Months ago we reported on government proposals to restructure the probate fees system.
Although some smaller estates would likely benefit from the changes, the impact of the proposed sliding scale would have been felt by most.
In recent weeks the government has confirmed that the restructure has been abandoned, and probate fees will remain unchanged.
Probate fees
The probate application fee is £215 for an estate valued at £5,000 or more.
There’s no fee if the estate is under £5,000.
